.Heaven On Earth Pastels - Fine Art & Gifts

Jennifer Doty Baxter

I always wanted to be an artist but seemed to have very little natural ability  when I was young.  After my husband gave me a "  Learn to Sketch Over Night"   book long ago, I realized that anything was possible with the right instruction, and so my adventure began.  My first attempt was with painting water colors, but I eventually was led to conquer pastels .  I love the vividness of the colors and the connection I feel to my tools while working with them.

In becoming an artist, I have learned much about patience, problem solving, enjoying the critique process, listening to  God's voice and direction, sharing, and friendship.  It's been very rewarding.

Selling my art is a big step for me, but I look forward to it as just another step in this adventure.

Thanks for being a part of it!

I grew up in the beautiful Skagit Valley and attended Mount Vernon High School, the home of the Bulldogs!  One of my favorite memories there was going out to the tulip fields and gathering the tulip flowers that had been cut off the stems  into large garbage bags to make large lawn displays on the MVHS campus for ASB elections. Now I'm painting them!

You probably noticed that I'm a huge COUG fan.  I attended Washington State University and gradtuated in 1982 with a degree in Business.
My favorite things to do aside  from being a mom, wife, and artist also include working with high school students, singing in our church choir, jogging, golfing, walking,  being a WSU Coug., and hanging with friends.
My favorite place to paint is in my family room.  Though it's a temporary studio I set up and take  down when I"m done with each painting, it provides me wonderful natural light, accessibility to the other parts of my life and responsibilities, and an inspirational view of Possession Bay in Mukilteo.
